Dr. Vaccarello is a graduate of Princeton University and received his M.D. from The University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. He completed his obstetrics and gynecology residency in 1988 at Magee-Womens Hospital at University Health Center Hospitals of Pittsburgh, his research fellowship from 1988 to 1990 at the Pittsburgh Cancer Institute of the University of Pittsburgh and his clinical fellowship in Gynecologic Oncology at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center from 1990 to 1992. Currently a clinical assistant professor in the Department of OB/GYN at The Ohio State University College of Medicine, he also serves as clinical associate professor at Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine. Dr. Vaccarello’s administrative duties include serving on the Mount Carmel Health System Quality Assurance & Peer Review Committee and the MCHS Network Cancer Committee. The author of numerous peer-reviewed publications and textbook chapters, Dr. Vaccarello has been involved in basic research in tumor immunology and is currently active in clinical research through the NCI-sponsored Gynecologic Oncology Group. The 2007-2008 president of the Society of Memorial Gynecologic Oncologists, he is a member of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, the Society of Gynecologic Oncologists, Community Oncology Alliance, Columbus Ohio Obstetrics & Gynecology Society and the Gynecologic Cancer Foundation. In 2007, Dr. Vaccarello received the Mount Carmel’s Physician Recognition Award. Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina of Italian descent, Dr. Vaccarello is fluent in Spanish and Italian.

A graduate of The Ohio State University College of Medicine, Dr. Lewandowski completed his residency in the Department of OB/GYN at Ohio State and his fellowship in gynecologic oncology at Georgetown University, where he served as an instructor in OB/GYN. He is a clinical assistant professor in the Department of OB/GYN at The Ohio State University College of Medicine and clinical associate professor at Wright State University School of Medicine, Obstetrics & Gynecology Department. Dr. Lewandowski is board certified in obstetrics & gynecology and gynecologic oncology by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and is a fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology. He has re-certified annually since 2000. A participant in research activities as a member of the Gynecologic Oncology Group, he has served on the Mount Carmel Human Subject Protection Committee (Institutional Review Board) for more than 10 years. Dr. Lewandowski is a board member of the Mount Carmel Foundation, serving on the Development Subcommittee and Physician Philanthropy Committee. He is a member of the Society of Gynecologic Oncologists, Community Oncology Alliance and The Ohio State University Alumni Association (Life Member). He has twice been awarded the John G. Boutselis Award for Outstanding Teaching in the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology at Mount Carmel Medical Center (awarded by The Ohio State University College of Medicine) and the OSU College of Medicine Faculty Teaching Award. Dr. Patel is a diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine in Medical Oncology. He received his M.B.B.S. from Baroda Medical College at Maharaja Sayairao University in Gujarat, India, where he completed his internship and residency in pathology. Formerly a research associate at the University of Illinois at Chicago, he completed his residency in internal medicine at Chicago’s Cook County Hospital and his fellowship in hematology/oncology at the University of Cincinnati. Dr. Patel is a principal investigator of multiple phase II and phase III clinical trials and an author of many peer-reviewed publications. A graduate of the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, Dr. Moore served his internship at the University of Cincinnati School of Medicine and his residency at Mercy Hospital in Pittsburgh, finishing as chief resident. He completed his fellowship at The Ohio State University School of Medicine, Division of Hematology/Oncology. Dr. Moore served as senior investigator, Clinical Investigations Branch, then as senior investigator, Developmental Chemotherapy Section, Investigational Drug Branch, both in the Cancer Therapy Evaluation Program at the National Cancer Institute. From 1992 to 1994, Dr. Moore was attending physician at NCI-Navy Medical Oncology Services at Bethesda National Naval Hospital and project officer for the Investigational Chemotherapy Combination Contract at the Southern Research Institute at the University of Maryland. Dr. Moore serves as medical director for the Palliative Care Service at Grant Medical Center in Columbus. He is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in medical oncology and hematology. Dr. Mitchell received his undergraduate degree with honors in English from Wake Forest University and graduated from the University of North Carolina School of Medicine. He completed his residency at the University of Pittsburgh Department of Internal Medicine, where he received the Thomas O’Toole Award for care to the medically underserved community in Pittsburgh. He served as chief fellow at Wake Forest University in the Section on Hematology and Oncology. Dr. Mitchell is board certified in general internal medicine, hematology and medical oncology by the American Board of Internal Medicine. A member of the boards of The Mark H. Zangmeister Center and Concord Radiation Therapy, Dr. Mitchell also serves as chairman of the Grant Medical Center Cancer Committee. A graduate of the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine, Dr. Knapp completed his internship and residency in internal medicine at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis and his fellowship in Hematology/Oncology at the University of Cincinnati School of Medicine. Dr. Knapp has an interest in research and serves as primary investigator on a number of studies at The Zangmeister Center. He also serves as a consultant to the International Oncology Network Research Advisory Board and to the Columbus Community Clinical Oncology Program’s Clinical Research Committee.
