Dr. Thompson is a diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine, the American Board of Medical Examiners and the American Board of Internal Medicine-Medical Oncology. Prior to receiving his medical degree, Dr. Thompson worked as a microbiologist at Scioto Memorial Hospital in Portsmouth, Ohio. He received his M.D. from Wright State University School of Medicine. Dr. Thompson served his residency in internal medicine at Mount Carmel Medical Center in Columbus, where he was co-chief administrative medical resident. He completed his fellowship in hematology/oncology at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington. A board member of the Community Oncology Alliance, Dr. Thompson is also a member of the American College of Physician Executives, American College of Physicians, American Society of Clinical Oncology, Columbus Community Clinical Oncology Program, Franklin County Academy of Medicine, National Adjuvant Surgical Breast & Bowel Project, Columbus Medical Association, The Ohio State Medical Association, the Ohio Hematology Oncology Society and Southwest Oncology Group. He has been a member of the Multiple Advisory Committees regarding cancer care and information technologies for Mount Carmel Health Systems.
