CHEMOTHERAPY / INFUSION

Tuesday, August 25th, 2009

17Infusion is the administration of fluids, including chemotherapy and blood products, into the bloodstream of patients who require them.

More than half of all people diagnosed with cancer receive chemotherapy, treatments that use drugs to kill affected cells. For millions of people who have conditions that respond well to chemotherapy, this approach helps them to enjoy full, productive lives. Many side effects once associated with chemotherapy are now easily prevented or controlled, allowing many people to work, travel and participate in normal activities while receiving treatment.

Our infusion area features 90 comfortable infusion chairs situated in a naturally lit, open space. To pass the time, the center offers a variety of pleasant distractions – including Wi-Fi, reading materials and plenty of windows – all contributing to the warm, caring environment.

THE ZANGMEISTER CENTER HISTORY

Friday, August 21st, 2009

1Mid Ohio Oncology/Hematology, Inc. was established in 1982, serving the central Ohio community in four locations in the Columbus area as well as in several surrounding counties. In 2007, the practice marked its twenty-fifth anniversary by opening The Mark H. Zangmeister Center, combining all offices into one facility designed to accommodate 60,000 patient visits per year. The physicians of The Zangmeister Center continue to serve patients at additional locations outside the greater Columbus area.

In naming the center for Dr. Mark H. Zangmeister, our physicians honor their former partner for his integrity and commitment to his patients, his contributions to the central Ohio medical community and the respect and friendship he shared with his colleagues. Encouraging his patients to “keep a positive outlook,” Dr. Zangmeister believed that hope is a powerful weapon in the fight against cancer. His legacy of integrity, compassion, faith and hope is the cornerstone of our practice.

The Mark H. Zangmeister Center Receives American College of Radiology Accreditation
Designation Awarded to Facilities with High Practice Standards

(Columbus, Ohio) July 17, 2009 – The Mark H. Zangmeister Center, a leading central Ohio oncology and hematology care center, has been awarded a three-year term of accreditation in Radiation by the American College of Radiology (ACR).

The ACR, headquartered in Reston, Va., awards accreditation to facilities for the achievement of high practice standards after a peer-review evaluation of the practice. Board-certified physicians and medical physicists who are experts in the field conduct the evaluations. They assess the qualifications of the personnel and the adequacy of facility equipment. The surveyors report their findings to the ACR’s Committee on Accreditation, which subsequently provides the practice with a comprehensive report.
