Chemotherapy and Infusion

Infusion Suite Provides Comfortable, Relaxing Setting for Chemotherapy Treatment

More than half of all people diagnosed with cancer receive chemotherapy, a medication designed to kill cancer cells. For millions of people who have conditions that respond well to chemotherapy, this approach helps them to enjoy full, productive lives.

Many side effects once associated with chemotherapy are now easily prevented or controlled, allowing many people to work, travel and participate in normal activities while receiving treatment.

Your doctor will choose the most appropriate chemotherapy treatment based on the type and stage of your cancer, your overall health, your response to previous cancer treatments and your goals and preferences.

Chemotherapy drugs can be administered in various ways, including pills, injections, creams and infusion. Infusion is the intravenous administration of fluids or medicine, including chemotherapy drugs, into patient’s bloodstream. It is the most common method of delivering chemotherapy.

The Zangmeister Cancer Center’s infusion suite has 44 comfortable infusion chairs situated in an open space with plenty of windows that allow natural lighting. We try to make the experience as pleasant as possible by providing blankets, pillows, beverages, cookies and crackers, and hard candy. We also offer reading materials, iPads and Wi-Fi access so you have something to do during the infusion process.
