What can I expect at my first visit?
Your first visit to Zangmeister Cancer Center is designed to feel organized, supportive, and focused on you. From the moment you’re referred, our team begins preparing—reviewing your medical records and coordinating key details to help reduce delays and ease stress. When appropriate, we can also collaborate with specialists at The James Cancer Network early in the process to ensure your care plan is informed by the right expertise from the start.
When you arrive, you’ll be welcomed by a care team that takes the time to understand your needs, answer your questions, and ensure you feel comfortable every step of the way. You’ll meet with both nursing staff and your oncology provider, who will review your history, explain your diagnosis, and walk through treatment options in a clear and compassionate way—bringing in additional subspecialty input from The James when needed.
Whenever possible, additional services such as lab work or imaging are coordinated quickly—often during the same visit—to help avoid unnecessary waiting. You may also be introduced to supportive resources early on, including financial counseling, social services, patient navigation, and access to clinical trials if appropriate.
