What is Cancer?
Cancer is not one disease, but a name given to a collection of related diseases. Cancer can start anywhere in the body. But all cancers are characterized by the uncontrolled growth of abnormal cells.
Types of Cancer
There are more than 100 types of cancer, most named for the organ or tissue where they originated. This page features information about some of the more common types of cancer.
Diagnosing Cancer
Once cancer is detected, getting a proper diagnosis is critical. The diagnosis will determine the type of cancer.

The Zangmeister Cancer Center uses both screening and diagnostic tests to detect, diagnose and monitor cancer.
Side Effects of Cancer Treatment
Cancer treatment – surgery, chemotherapy and radiation therapy – can cause unwelcome side effects. These side effects vary, depending on the type and location of the cancer, the patient’s age and overall health, and the type, dose and frequency of drugs.
